At St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Sunday, Cardinal Dolan celebrated a special Mass for peace and justice in Haiti.

More than 53,000 people have fled Haiti’s capital in less than three weeks, the vast majority to escape unrelenting gang violence, according to a U.N. report released in March.

In his homily on what is celebrated as “Good Shepherd Sunday” throughout the universal Church, Cardinal Dolan said a good shepherd never abandons his sheep, and said that we must not abandon Haiti in this time of crisis.
