Sister Mary O'Brien, SC, entered eternal life on Aug. 16, 2026, in her 76th year as a Sister of Charity of New York. She devoted 38 years to teaching, from elementary classrooms in Manhattan and the Bronx to high schools in the Bahamas and Rye.

A devoted Dominican Sister of Hope for over 70 years, Sr. Margaret brought her sharp mind, generous spirit, and lively wit to decades of work as a teacher, principal, treasurer, and pastoral minister across New York and New Jersey.

A tireless educator and mentor who spent seven decades as an Ursuline Sister, Sr. Millie shaped generations of teachers and students across New York, Delaware, and Maryland while founding a school dedicated to giving underserved girls a path forward.

Sister Theresa Docherty, OP, devoted nearly 50 years to Catholic education across the Bronx, Carmel, Peekskill, and Sparkill, touching generations of students with quiet grace before entering eternal life on July 24, 2026, at age 88.

Sr. Rosemary Petrucelli spent 76 years as a Sister of Charity of New York, devoting 55 of them to a nursing career that ranged from bedside care to hospital administration to AIDS clinic work, and continued serving vulnerable people well into her retirement.
