“With friendly cheer, we wanted to show that the Catholic Church is part of Port Ewen and the greater Esopus community,” commented Father Arthur Rojas

PORT EWEN — On a sunny Saturday on the corner of Broadway and East Main Street, parishioners of Presentation-Sacred Heart Parish cheerily participated in the Town of Esopus’s Frost Free Fair. “With friendly cheer, we wanted to show that the Catholic Church is part of Port Ewen and the greater Esopus community,” commented Father Arthur Rojas, pastor, “as well as to invite our neighbors and all passers-by to learn more about the good news of our Catholic faith and identity.”
Several parishioners, both young and old, took part in manning the booth throughout the day, along with Father Rojas. Bulletins, handmade rosaries, medals of the Sacred Heart, and other devotional and catechetical materials were distributed to curious passers-by and onlookers throughout the day. Father Rojas was on hand to impart blessings on items as well as persons seeking these blessings, and to answer questions about Catholicism and our parish. The booths featured a beautiful parish banner, with which Deacon Timothy Dean will lead a delegation of parishioners in the upcoming Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m. along Broadway in Port Ewen to Riverview Cemetery at Ulster Park.
