On May 22, Bishop Edmund Whalen celebrated a bilingual Mass at St. John Bosco Parish in Port Chester, to welcome people arriving to New York as part of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage. After the Mass, a nighttime adoration of the holy sacrament took place.
The recognition came with gratitude for the archbishop emeritus' leadership of fundraising efforts to restore Notre-Dame Cathedral after the 2019 fire.
