In the Gospel passages of the last few days, Jesus has been showing us that it’s not always going to be easy to follow Him. All of the martyrs we celebrate are a reminder of that, including Saint Lawrence, whose feast we celebrate today.
Like Jesus, we are faced with threats, ridicule, and violence. Today’s scripture reminds us that God is with the just.
