The Archdiocese of New York is beginning the season of Advent, which starts Sunday, December 1, with a “Season of Joy” page featuring an activity book and Advent calendar, available on its website.
In a series of videos presented by Cardinal Timothy Dolan, “Figures of Advent” looks at important characters in the Old and New Testament and their relationship to Advent, including King David, St. Joseph, and Mary.
The 20-page Advent Activity Book can be downloaded, cut out, colored, and otherwise used to inspire creativity. “Brought to you by the Archdiocese of New York, the Advent Activity Book is our free gift to help your family prepare for the joy of Christmas,” the book’s introduction says.
Activities include coloring the candles of an Advent wreath, along with an explanation of what those colors mean; patterns to make an Advent calendar; and cut-out ornaments for a Jesse Tree, which the book says, “tells the story of Jesus’ family tree, from Creation to His birth.”
The videos and activity book are here on the Archdiocese of New York’s website.
