

Monsignor Michael C. Crimmins was born January 28, 1942, in Palo Alto, California, to Martin and Mary Crimmins. Michael attended Saint Joseph’s Elementary School and then Encinal School, both in Menlo Park, California. He then attended Bellarmine College Preparatory School in San Jose, California. After graduation, he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in foreign service from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in 1965.
Monsignor Michael received a master’s degree in divinity from Saint Joseph’s Seminary and was ordained a priest in 1970. He spent the summer months of 1970 at Catholic University of Ponce before he served as Assistant Pastor at Blessed Sacrament in Manhattan from 1970-1974, the Church of Saint Joseph from 1974-1975, and Saint Patrick’s Cathedral from 1975-1977. He was the Associate Pastor at Transfiguration from 1977-1979 and Notre Dame in Manhattan from 1979 until he became the Administrator there in 1981. He moved to the Diocese of Orange County, California, in 1987 and in 1988 became the Coordinator of the University Apostolate and Campus Ministry until 1997.
He was reappointed Pastor of Saint Malachy’s in Manhattan in 1997 and named Prelate of Honor to His Holiness in 1999. He was named the Director for the Propagation of the Faith in 2002. He served as Parochial Vicar at Saint Clare’s in Staten Island in 2005, Pastor at Saint Gregory the Great in Manhattan from 2006-2015, and Parochial Vicar at Holy Name of Jesus-Saint Gregory from 2015-2017. He retired in 2017.
