ArchCare’s Calvary Hospital is a leader in end-of-life care for the country as the only fully accredited acute care specialty hospital in the U.S. exclusively providing palliative care for adult patients with advanced cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. This gives them a unique responsibility to share their practices to other institutions and medical professionals to ensure end-of-life care continues growing and make the dying process one filled with dignity and support.

This conference had strong focus on sharing the ideologies and care philosophies that puts the individual first in their care. This is done through seeing what each person needs physically, emotionally, spiritually, and psychiatrically. Allowing for the interfaith side of the conference to educate about the spiritual wellbeing of the dying.

This conference also took place at a crossroads for Catholic medical institutions in New York as the Medical Aid in Dying (MAiD) Act goes into effect August 5. The New York State Catholic Conference published a pamphlet discussing physician-assisted suicide and how to remain in Catholic Social Teaching after the act goes into effect. The speakers at this conference saw this crossroads as an opportunity for caregivers: their care has to only get better as these other options are now provided to the dying.
