Cardinal Dolan Issues Five Decrees

The decrees were made public to all the faithful on January 1, 2023, through their publication on the archdiocesan website. This announcement is a second notice.

After extensive consultation, Cardinal Dolan issued the following five decrees, two parish mergers and three church relegations: 

  1. Merger of the Parishes of Corpus Christi and Notre Dame, North Manhattan (effective immediately)
  2. Merger of the Parishes of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs and Saint Jude, North Manhattan (effective immediately)
  3. Relegation of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, in the Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe at Saint Bernard and Saint Veronica, South Manhattan (effective immediately)
  4. Relegation of Saint Columba Church, in the Parish of Guardian Angel-Saint Columba, South Manhattan (effective immediately)
  5. Relegation of Immaculate Conception Church, Tompkins Cove, in the Parish of Immaculate Conception, Stony Point – Rockland County (effective immediately)

Recently, Columbia University in New York has become the epicenter of U.S. college protests and encampments demanding an end to U.S. support of Israel, now at war with Hamas following that group's Oct. 7, 2023, attack on approximately 22 locations in Israel.
