Parents and guardians having trouble coping with children having gone to college or otherwise moved away can take some time away at the Office of Family Life‘s First Annual Gathering for Empty Nesters, to be held at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers on Saturday, September 30.

The afternoon’s presenter will be Elizabeth J. White, director of evangelization and missionary discipleship at the Archdiocese of Chicago.

White is an innovative, person-centered leader who has spent most of her career creating and developing tools and processes to advance the mission of the organizations she has served. A storyteller at heart, she loves to learn and explore all types of resources and listen to other people’s stories.

For seven years, White has served the Archdiocese of Chicago as their director of the Office for Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship. She and her team directly help pastors and lay leaders to bring about renewal in their parishes by focusing on creating communities of belonging where all are welcomed and encouraged to grow in their relationship with Jesus and His Church.

White previously served as the vice president of advancement at the first Cristo Rey Jesuit High School located in Chicago where she was responsible for fundraising, strategic planning, and communications. Prior to her time at Cristo Rey, she served in various roles in Catholic organizations, mostly focused in the area of marketing and communications.

White has a Master of Arts in Theology from St. Meinrad School of Theology in St. Meinrad, Indiana. She is a parishioner at St. Gerald Parish in Oak Lawn where she resides. Once an empty-nester, her young adult daughter, Megan, returned home while finishing her Master’s degree.
