A solemn ceremony dating back centuries took place on Saturday in St. Patrick’s Cathedral to welcome new members of the Eastern Lieutenancy of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.
In addition to welcoming new members, some existing members of the Order were promoted in rank.
The lay men and women, clergy and religious were welcomed into the Vatican-based order with the mission “to serve as witnesses to the Christian faith and be supporters and protectors of the Church and the living Christian communities in the Holy Land,” according to the Eastern Lieutenancy’s website.
The Grand Master of the Order, Cardinal Fernando Filoni, came from the Vatican to preside over the weekend’s events.
