April 7 is Divine Mercy Sunday. In the video above, Fr. Michal Czyzewski, Pastor of St. Stanislaus Bishop & Martyr in Manhattan’s East Village, offers us a reflection on God’s Mercy.

St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr parish is the oldest Polish parish in the Archdiocese of New York.

The Feast of Divine Mercy always takes place on the Sunday after Easter. This devotion began when a Polish nun, Sr. Faustina Kowalska (1905-1938), received several visions of Jesus in which he asked her to tell the world about His mercy.

In the year 2000, Pope St. John Paul II canonized Sr. Faustina and decreed that the feast of Divine Mercy be celebrated on the Sunday after Easter.

The parish of St. Stanislaus holds regular devotions to The Divine Mercy and Fr. Michal says all are welcome! He ends the reflection with a special message to the Polish speaking Catholics in the Archdiocese, wishing them a happy and blessed Divine Mercy Sunday.

Find out more about the history and substance of this devotion by visiting the website of The National Shrine of The Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, MA.
