Award-winning author Stephanie Weller Hanson talks to The Good Newsroom about her first Catholic novel for children (ages 9-12), “A Dark and Desperate Race,” which will be out on May 1. This action-packed, coming-of-age adventure is set in a world reminiscent of 17th-century Europe and follows Will Pennington.

He is a boy who feels like he can never measure up to his father’s expectations – until an urgent mission to save his home and kingdom reveals his God-given strengths and courage.
