A Word from Cardinal Dolan: Atonement

| 09/25/2023

By: Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan

Are you familiar with this Catholic expression, “Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa”? It’s Latin for “Through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault.”

It’s an act of sorrow to the Lord admitting we are sinners.

In his video today, Cardinal Dolan reflects on the importance of atonement as well Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of atonement.

On November 27, let us offer a prayer of Thanksgiving for all college students, whether they are studying close to home or far away, that they may grow in wisdom, grace, and a continued love for family life.

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of All Saints. We rejoice with all of the saints in Heaven, thank them for their guidance, and remember that God created all of us to be with Him forever. We are called to live on this earth as citizens of Heaven.
