A Word from Cardinal Dolan: Atonement

| 09/25/2023

By: Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan

Are you familiar with this Catholic expression, “Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa”? It’s Latin for “Through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault.”

It’s an act of sorrow to the Lord admitting we are sinners.

In his video today, Cardinal Dolan reflects on the importance of atonement as well Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of atonement.

On this week’s episode of All Good Things with Archbishop Hicks, Archbishop Ronald Hicks and Father Dave Dwyer talk about the meaning of Memorial Day, Pope Leo’s first papal encyclical on human dignity and AI, the duty of the Church to speak up about important issues, Pentecost, Archbishop Hicks’ first ordination in the Archdiocese of New York, and answer listener questions.

"The encyclical is an important contribution to the Church's continually evolving and expanding social teaching doctrine. It is truly a teaching document for our times," said Dennis Poust, executive director of NYSCC.
