A Word from Cardinal Dolan: Shrine of Knock

| 08/27/2023

By: Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan

Cardinal Dolan and the visiting pilgrims are at the Shrine of Knock where our Blessed Mother appeared to villagers in this little parish in County Mayo during a troubled time in Ireland.

Cardinal Dolan reflects on why our Blessed Mother said nothing to those she appeared to. Sometimes the silence of a mother is the best message we can have.

Archbishop Ronald Hicks and Father Dave Dwyer talk about Cardinal Dolan’s anniversary, why we celebrate the Feast of the Ascension on Thursday, the meanings of Pentecost, Pope Leo’s upcoming encyclical on human dignity and artificial intelligence, the duty of the Church to engage with the world, and answer a question about the Easter Season.

“In moments such as these, we are reminded of the call to be instruments of peace; as Pope Leo XIV has said, ‘Where violence wounds the human family, compassion and unity must be our steadfast reply.’" said the president of the USCCB.
