A Word from Cardinal Dolan: St. Josephine Bakhita

Yesterday was the feast of St. Josephine Bakhita, the patron saint of those who have suffered from human trafficking.

Kidnapped in Sudan and sold into slavery, she was adopted by an Italian family, and from them she learned the Catholic faith.

For nearly 25 years, Deacon Doherty brought compassion and hope to inmates at three New York correctional facilities.
