A Word from Cardinal Dolan: St. Josephine Bakhita

Yesterday was the feast of St. Josephine Bakhita, the patron saint of those who have suffered from human trafficking.

Kidnapped in Sudan and sold into slavery, she was adopted by an Italian family, and from them she learned the Catholic faith.

The archbishop of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia urged all Christians and people of good will to avoid political violence of any kind and instead to pursue peace through dialogue and justice.
