Archbishop Hicks Speaks with New Archdiocese Priests Frs. Joe Haas and John Ippolito: ‘We’re Excited for You’

On the May 26 episode of “All Good Things with Archbishop Hicks,” Archbishop Hicks asks the archdiocese’s newly ordained priests about their respective journeys toward the priesthood.

On Saturday, May 23, Archbishop Hicks ordained Deacon Joseph Haas and Deacon John Ippolito to the priesthood at St. Patrick’s Cathedral with Cardinal Timothy Dolan in attendance.

Just three days later, both new Archdiocese of New York priests appeared on All Good Things with Archbishop Hicks.

“We as a Church wish you all the best, and we’re excited for you and accompany you along the way,” Archbishop Hicks said, before inviting the new priests to each share the moment when they first felt called to serve.

Cardinal Dolan was the first person to suggest Father Haas become a priest, while Father Ippolito felt a strong connection to the Church throughout his childhood by getting involved in his parish.

While they both felt somewhat trepidatious at first to reach out to their respective vocations offices, they could not deny the pull they were feeling toward serving God.

Archbishop Hicks encouraged the newly ordained priests to “say something” if they ever notice someone in the future who might be a good fit for a vocation. He congratulated Frs. Haas and Ippolito again on their ordinations, and he asked them how they felt about their parish assignments.

This conversation is part of this week’s episode of All Good Things with Archbishop Hicks on SiriusXM’s The Catholic Channel (129) and Catholic Faith Network.
