NEW YORK — ArchCare, the continuing care community of the Archdiocese of New York, announced the appointment of Jason Hutchens as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). In this pivotal role, Hutchens will lead ArchCare’s operational strategies, with a sharp focus on enhancing quality, improving system integration, and advancing the patient experience across its full continuum of care.

Hutchens, who most recently served as ArchCare’s Senior Vice President of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care, brings a proven track record of results-driven leadership. During his tenure, he spearheaded the elimination of third-party agencies to elevate care quality, restructured corporate clinical support teams to improve outcomes, and implemented a system-wide pressure ulcer reduction program that yielded substantial improvements in patient health and safety.

“Jason’s leadership has been instrumental in driving quality and operational excellence across ArchCare’s services,” said Scott LaRue, President and Chief Executive Officer of ArchCare. “His ability to lead with compassion while achieving measurable results makes him the right person to guide us forward as we continue to meet the evolving needs of our patients, care members, and partners.”

As COO, Hutchens will lead efforts to further integrate ArchCare’s skilled nursing facilities, assisted living programs, and home-and community-based services, positioning ArchCare to better serve both provider and payer partners. His immediate priorities include advancing continuous quality improvement initiatives and enhancing system-wide coordination to deliver a more seamless patient journey.

“I am honored to step into this role and build upon ArchCare’s commitment to providing exceptional care throughout every stage of life,” said Hutchens. “My focus will be on leveraging our full care continuum to not only improve quality but to ensure a more connected, compassionate experience for our patients and their families.”

ArchCare also welcomed Jake Maijala as the new Senior Vice President of Human Resources. With over 25 years of progressive leadership in healthcare human resources, Maijala brings deep expertise in talent acquisition, organizational development, and workforce culture transformation. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Signature Healthcare, where he led system-wide HR operations, implemented workforce management technologies, and successfully rebuilt staffing operations after a major disruption. His proven ability to drive cultural change, elevate employee engagement, and lead diversity and inclusion initiatives will play a critical role in supporting ArchCare’s mission of delivering compassionate, person-centered care through a dedicated and empowered workforce.
