ArchCare at Mary Manning Walsh Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center (Mary Manning Walsh), part of the Continuum of Care Community of the Archdioceses of New York, announced its dual recognition on U.S. News & World Report‘s and Newsweek‘s “Best Nursing Homes 2024” lists.

Of the 606 nursing facilities in New York, Mary Manning Walsh is one of the 56 that received an overall rating of 5 out of 5 from U.S. News & World Report. The 360-bed facility is ranked no. 12 by Newsweek among New York nursing homes, offering a wide range of services to support the well-being of surrounding Manhattan communities. The inclusion of Mary Manning Walsh on Newsweek’s list for the third consecutive year is a testament to its exceptional performance across these critical dimensions.

U.S. News & World Report‘s “Best Nursing Homes 2024” ratings involve a detailed analysis of short-term rehabilitation and long-term care provided by skilled nursing facilities. Mary Manning Walsh, earning a ‘High Performance’ rating for both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care, stands among the elite 3% of over 15,000 evaluated skilled nursing facilities. This achievement highlights Mary Manning Walsh’s dedication to maintaining the highest standards in nurse staffing, drug management, and attention to resident safety.

Newsweek‘s “Best Nursing Homes 2024” ranking lists the nation’s leading nursing homes in the 25 states with the highest number of facilities according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The rankings are the result of a comprehensive evaluation based on five data sources. These include nursing home performance, accreditations from the Joint Commission and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, resident satisfaction data, medical professionals’ surveys, and the facility’s response and protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Each employee plays a part in these awards and without all disciplines working together, it would be impossible to realize such success. I am very proud of this achievement because it reflects the quality care and attention to detail that is demonstrated by our staff every day,” said Michael Monahan, executive director of Mary Manning Walsh, expressed the facility’s dedication.

Services at Mary Manning Walsh Include:

  • Short-Term Rehabilitation: Accelerating recovery from a serious injury, illness, or surgery through personalized care and therapy.
  • Long-Term Care: Supportive extended assistance for residents who can no longer perform everyday activity on their own.
  • Palliative Care: Addressing chronic conditions through physical, emotional, and spiritual treatment.
  • Hospice Care on Dawn Green Hospice Unit: End-of-life care affiliated with Calvary Hospital’s program CalvaryCare®.
  • Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) Unit: Specialized short-term rehabilitation for orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) Unit: Specialized short-term rehabilitation for cancer treatment recovery

In addition to its accolades, Mary Manning Walsh maintains affiliations with renowned institutions, including the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) and MSK. These affiliations further enhance the facility’s capabilities to provide specialized and high-quality healthcare services. The collaboration with HSS ensures access to advanced orthopedic and rehabilitation services, enriching the facility’s comprehensive care offerings. Similarly, the affiliation with MSK enhances Mary Manning Walsh’s capabilities in addressing complex medical conditions, particularly in the realm of cancer care. These partnerships reflect Mary Manning Walsh’s dedication to ensuring the unique needs of residents are met with access to cutting-edge healthcare resources and expertise.

“The staff of Mary Manning Walsh provide compassionate and quality care and are deserving of these important recognitions,” said Ryan Sugarman, MD, medical director of strategic partnerships at MSK.
