Miguel Garcia, owner of Big Deal Supermarket, announced that the Anthony J. Merolla Holy Name Society and Big Deal Supermarket raised $6,345.20 for the Parish of Church of St. Clare of Assisi–St. Francis Xavier Parish from the 2026 annual Lenten Fundraiser.
Garcia added that the fundraiser, which started in 2010, has contributed $110,070 to the parish. He thanked his dedicated staff and the parish’s Holy Name Society for their efforts in promoting the event throughout the years. Father Salvatore DeStefano is the pastor of the Parish of St. Clare of Assisi/St. Francis Xavier and spiritual director of the Anthony J. Merolla Holy Name Society. Joseph Madia serves as president of the AJM-Holy Name Society.
This year’s fundraiser was dedicated to the parish’s secretaries, Charlene Brown, Anne Leone, and Ellen Capellan, who tirelessly perform many important administrative tasks that keep both churches of the parish running smoothly.
Since its inception, the proceeds have underwritten needed repairs and projects for the parish’s two church buildings and school programs. AJM-Holy Name Society officers Joseph Madia, Peter Ulrich, Martin Dolgow, and Thomas Tronconi coordinated and administered the fundraiser. They thanked all parishioners and shoppers for their loyal support in making this year’s fundraiser another success.
