Bishop Espaillat: Call Forth the Power of The Holy Spirit in A New and Radical Way This Year

Ahead of Pentecost, May 19, Bishop Joseph Espaillat, Auxiliary Bishop of New York, encourages us to be filled with “the power of the fullness of the Holy Spirit” and to “go out to evangelize and baptize and make disciples of all nations.”

He says that if we think about it, the culmination of Easter is Pentecost.

“What a great joy it is for us as church to celebrate this great solemnity of Pentecost,” he says.“As Catholics, we’re very good celebrating lent 40 days and then we celebrate 50 days of Easter.”

“Unfortunately,we don’t seem to put a lot of emphasis on the vigil of Pentecost,” he continues, “but just like there’s an Easter Vigil, there is a Pentecost vigil. And so, I am inviting all of you to really consider calling forth that power of the Holy Spirit in a new and radical way this year.”

Watch the entire reflection in the video above.

Bishop Espaillat, together with Bishop Josu Iriondu and the team from the archdiocese’s Hispanic Catholic Charismatic Center, invite you to attend this year’s Pentecost Vigil on Saturday, May 18 beginning at 7 PM.
