Bishop Robert Brennan, Bishop of the Diocese of Brooklyn which includes Queens, will lead a Mass for Peace in Haiti on Monday, March 18, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Innocents Roman Catholic Church, located at 279 East 17th Street in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn.

Bishop Brennan, Haitian priests of the diocese, and the faithful in attendance will offer prayers for a peaceful resolution to the political crisis, as they stand in solidarity with those concerned about their loved ones in Haiti.

The congregation will also pray for Bishop Pierre-André Dumas of Anse-a-Veau-Miragoâne, who is recovering from injuries and severe burns sustained in an explosion last month in Port-au-Prince. He is being treated and recovering at a Miami hospital.

On March 15, Bishop A. Elias Zaidan of the Maronite Eparchy of Our Lady of Lebanon called for immediate and long-term solutions, and offered prayers for peace in Haiti.

Since February, the Church of St. Clare in Staten Island has been raising funds for its sister parish in Haiti, Church of Our Lady Help of Christians, to help that parish complete construction of a school.

The Most Rev. Dominick J. Lagonegro celebrated the Mass with Father Gregoire Fluet, vice president for mission and ministry at the college.

Just as in Holy Scripture, our families have drama due to conflicting needs. We can only trust that God will be with our families as He was with the families of the Bible. In the most difficult times, God is always with us.
