During their recent Spring Plenary Assembly, the U.S. Catholic bishops voted to advance the cause of five missionary priests from France who died serving those in need during the yellow fever epidemic in Louisiana in 1873.
Cardinal Dolan spoke with Bishop Francis Malone of Shreveport about the “Shreveport Martyrs” on the June 26 episode of “Conversation with Cardinal Dolan”. Bishop Malone says these priests who were ministering to those dying of yellow fever knew they were going to die as well as they made sure the sick received the sacraments.

“Conversation with Cardinal Dolan” airs on SiriusXM’s The Catholic Channel (129) and the Catholic Faith Network.
