Pope Francis slept well throughout the night after suffering two respiratory insufficiencies on Monday, according to the Holy See Press Office.

"El Santo Padre presentó hoy dos episodios de insuficiencia respiratoria aguda, causados por una importante acumulación de moco endobronquial y el consiguiente broncoespasmo."

The episodes were caused by the accumulation of mucus, which was aspirated both times. Non-invasive mechanical ventilation was then resumed.
