On Monday, June 26, the Catholic Church celebrated the Feast Day of St. Josemaría Escrivá, the Spanish priest who founded Opus Dei.
Here in New York, Cardinal Dolan celebrated Mass in St. Patrick’s Cathedral to honor the life of this saint who was born in 1902 and canonized just 100 years later, a remarkable timeline in the life of any saint.
Thousands filled the Cathedral including families and young people. Many are members of Opus Dei the organization of laypeople and priests founded by St. Escrivá based on the teaching that everyone is called to holiness by God and how to discover sanctity in our ordinary lives.
In his homily, Cardinal Dolan said that since he has been the Archbishop of New York he has come to appreciate the vocation of Opus Dei even more. See our full report here.
