By decree of Pope Leo XIV, the Church will observe a Jubilee Year honoring Saint Francis of Assisi on the 800th anniversary of his Transitus, from January 10, 2026, through January 10, 2027.

During this sacred time, the faithful are invited to walk more closely in the footsteps of Saint Francis, embracing a life of humility, peace, conversion of heart, and generous love rooted in the Gospel.

The Franciscan Friars of the Atonement receive this Jubilee as a grace-filled invitation to renew our commitment to unity and reconciliation in Christ. The witness of Saint Francis continues to call the Church to be a living sign of communion, drawing together what is divided and restoring hope where it has been lost. This Jubilee Year stands as a fitting continuation of the Jubilee of 2025, extending its call to renewal and mercy.

The Apostolic Penitentiary grants a plenary indulgence, under the usual conditions, to those who devoutly participate in the Jubilee celebrations. Those who are elderly, ill, or otherwise unable to make a pilgrimage may also share in this grace by uniting themselves spiritually to the Jubilee, offering their prayers, sufferings, and daily sacrifices to God.

Conditions for Receiving the Plenary Indulgence
(for oneself or for the deceased)

Sacramental Confession within eight days before or after
Participation in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist and reception of Holy Communion
Pilgrimage to a Franciscan church or a place dedicated to Saint Francis
Profession of faith through the recitation of the Creed
Recitation of the Lord’s Prayer
Prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father

A Call to Renew Franciscan Hope

As the Franciscan Family and the wider Church remember eight centuries of Franciscan life and witness, this Jubilee Year invites all the faithful to a deeper conversion of heart. Inspired by Saint Francis, poor, humble, and wholly conformed to Christ, may we renew our dedication to charity, fraternity, peace, and reverent care for all creation.

In the spirit of the Saint of Assisi, may this Jubilee be for every believer a time of grace and transformation, strengthening our resolve to live the Gospel authentically and to bear witness to the reconciling love of Christ for the life of the world.
