On this Friday of the Third Week of Lent, The Good Newsroom continues its Lenten series “Fridays at the Foot of the Cross” with a reflection on the Fourth Word of Christ: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46).

From the Cross, Jesus prays the opening words of Psalm 22, entering fully into the depths of human suffering.

This installment is paired with a teaching from St. John Paul II: “In the Cross of Christ not only is the Redemption accomplished through suffering, but also human suffering itself has been redeemed.”

Together, Sacred Scripture and the witness of the saints invite us to contemplate the mystery of Christ’s suffering for the salvation of the world.

As we continue our Lenten journey, we bring our own suffering to the Cross and unite it to His.

Inner-City Scholarship Fund treats more than 250 archdiocesan students to a performance by a gospel choir of former NFL players.

The Knights of Columbus has always stood in solidarity with the Holy Father, recognizing in him a spiritual father who calls the world not to division, but to unity, not to conflict, but to peace. In this moment, we reaffirm that commitment with clarity and conviction.
