The Young Adult Ministry of the Archdiocese of New York serves the ministers and leaders who catechize and evangelize young adults (18-35 years old).

Organizers say these are young people who “seek a personal and active relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church, and desire to put their faith into action.” They serve fellow young faithful as volunteers during holy hours, Masses, retreats, and regularly scheduled meetings. Some of the parish gatherings are bilingual (English and Spanish).

“We bring young adults together so that they can feel in community, in gatherings where they can feel needed to serve the Lord’s Church,” Salomon Cariño, director of Corazón Puro, the Bronx-based outreach ministry, told The Good Newsroom in a June 26 phone interview. “And we invite them to serve on our various committees.” Cariño cited the significance of Young Adult Holy Hours and liturgies as important ways to guide the young faithful in their spiritual growth.

Father John Higgins, pastor of Holy Cross Church in the Bronx, said, “Young people are looking more than ever to connect with God. The Eucharist is God’s greatest gift to us because it is Jesus Himself. It seems that when young people realize what the Eucharist is, they respond with genuine love and devotion.”
