The date for the World Day of the Sick (Feb. 11) was chosen by Pope St. John Paul II because it is the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes. The apparition site is known for the many miraculous healings that have taken place there (70 confirmed so far) and is visited by millions each year.

The Catholic Faith Network looks at a documentary about the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes and talks to the President of the Lourdes Office of Medical Observations about how they investigate miraculous healings.
