Maria Regina High School in Hartsdale is embracing Catholic Schools Week through a series of events that will engage students and encourage them to participate more fully with the Catholic community and with their faith.

As Catholic Schools Week kicks off on Monday, January 29, students will be making Valentine’s Day cards and writing letters of gratitude to send to the local assisted living facilities where retired Sisters live. These include Marian Woods, Maryknoll Nursing Home and the Provincial Home of the Sisters of the Resurrection.

On Tuesday, January 30, students are collecting items needed to support the school’s Monthly Breakfast Run efforts in New York City. Items to be collected include toiletries, hand/feet warmers, socks, gloves, scarves, and hats.

Look for Maria Regina students outside “The Today Show” with a school banner in support of Catholic Schools Week on Tuesday morning.

On Wednesday, students in the ministry group, People of Prayer (PoP), will create a video to offer prayers of peace in community with our school neighbor, the Leffell School, during this time of war in the Israel/Palestine region.

Thursday, February 1, sees the diaper drive, with the school community bringing in donations of diapers and wipes for the Peekskill location of Birthright, a charity committed to providing confidential, non-judgmental support to women experiencing unplanned pregnancies/living in challenging situations.

Friday, February 2, ends Catholic Schools Week with a monthly school Mass and a continuation of Maria Regina’s Nothing is Impossible Speaker Series. Featured will be Alumna Danielle Santoro ‘20 and owner of GoTheDistance (GTD) fitness and faith Christian activewear brand. Also, during lunch periods, Maura Lennon, CEO of international operations of The Hope Foundation USA, will be speaking to students about opportunities to become involved in her organization. The Hope Foundation is dedicated to promoting the protection of street-dwelling and slum-connected children in Kolkata, some of the most underprivileged in India, as well as their families and communities. HOPE works to effect immediate and lasting change in their lives.

The Hartsdale all-girl school celebrated its 65th anniversary in 2022. For more information, visit Maria Regina High School’s website.
