Monsignor Scanlan High School’s girls’ basketball team capped a treble Saturday, with captain Madison “Showtime” Howard leading the Lady Crusaders to a 69-45 win over Brooklyn’s South Shore High School.

Howard, a Scanlan senior and Syracuse commit appearing in Lady Crusader blue for the final time, scored her 2,000th career point with a three-pointer that represented the game’s penultimate points on Saturday, March 21, at Long Island University’s Brooklyn campus.

The win adds the “Undisputed Championship,” as this year’s Catholic High School Athletic League (CHSAA) vs. Public School Athletic League (PSAL) games are branded, to Scanlan’s win in the archdiocesan finals earlier this season.

Howard led her team with 25 points, four rebounds, and two steals, on her way to picking up most valuable player honors for the game. Junior Madison Wallace added 13 points, three steals, and four assists for Scanlan.

Howard now takes her game to Syracuse University, where she committed in the fall. Wallace returns to Monsignor Scanlan for her senior year next season. Monsignor Scanlan Head Varsity Coach Mercedes Dukes, a Scanlan alumna, coaches the Lady Crusaders.
