Born on May 21, 1934, Father Michael B. Dibble entered eternal life on December 20, 2024.
Ordained on May 28, 1960, his life was defined by a deep commitment to faith, education, and the well-being of his students, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.
In 2011, Father Dibble was honored and inducted into the Our Lady of Lourdes High School (OLL) of Poughkeepsie’s Legion of Honor:
“For nearly three decades of Our Lady of Lourdes High School (OLL) graduates, the mere mention of Room G03 conjures a very special memory. Not for the room itself, nor its desks, books, or chalkboard, but rather for its renowned and beloved occupant, Fr. Michael Dibble.
“Father Dibble taught at OLL from 1964 to 1992. He was a faculty member in the English and Religion departments and moderator of the Drama Club. His popular classes and theatrical productions are often recounted by graduates as pinnacle high school memories. Yet, as those who called him teacher will agree, he was much, much more. Father Dibble was an enthusiastic educator with a passion for his pupils. He was profoundly influential in the emotional, intellectual, and spiritual development of many students and colleagues. He changed more than a few lives through his teaching, his advising, and more broadly, his caring.
“Mild-mannered with an understated sense of humor, Father Dibble is remembered well and in so many ways. He is among a distinct few who have defined our Lourdean legacy and was inducted into our school’s Legion of Honor on February 12, 2011.”
Father Dibble celebrated 60 years of priesthood on June 21, 2020, at Christ the King Parish in Pleasant Hill, California.
