Born in New York City on May 6, 1930, and ordained on May 28, 1955, the Rev. Monsignor Patrick J. Carney entered eternal life on November 6, 2024.

Having earned a master’s degree in social work at Fordham University, Monsignor Carney then served on the staff of Catholic Charities in 1963-1964, before becoming county director of Catholic Charities for Dutchess and Ulster Counties from 1964 until 1973. He retired in 2014, having served as senior priest administrator at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Hartsdale from 2005, having been pastor since July 1, 1998. In 2001, he presided over the 75th anniversary of the parish, where he also served locally as the chaplain of the Hartsdale Volunteer Fire Company. In 2003, he oversaw a significant renovation of the church building and its facilities. Monsignor Carney celebrated his golden jubilee in 2005.
