Obituary: Sister Bernadette Rohan, PBVM

The Queens native served at assignments throughout the Archdiocese of New York and elsewhere
Sister Bernadette Rohan (Sr. Mary Rosanne), of the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, entered eternal life on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at St. Cabrini Nursing Home, Dobbs Ferry, NY. She was 83 years old.
Sr. Bernadette Rohan was born on September 30, 1939, in Queens, NY, and joined the Sisters of the Presentation on September 8, 1957. She professed her first vows on April 23, 1963, and final vows on April 23, 1965. She graduated from St. Michael’s High School, in Manhattan. She earned a BS degree in Education from Fordham University in 1965, and an RN from Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing in 1975.
During her ministry, Sr. Bernadette taught at St. Andrews in Clifton, New Jersey; St. Frances of Rome, Bronx NY; St. John the Evangelist, Manhattan, NY; and Our Lady of Consolation, Wayne, NJ. She was a nurse at St. Vincent’s Hospital, NYC; Mary Manning Walsh Home, NYC; and Mt. St. Joseph Infirmary, New Windsor, NY.
In addition to her family at the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Sr. Bernadette is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Sr. Bernadette was predeceased by her parents, Martin Rohan and Rose Rohan, her sisters Margaret Kenny and Sr. Bernadette Therese CSJ, and her brothers, Thomas Rohan, Martin Rohan, Arthur Rohan, and John Rohan.
Wake Services will be held on March 19, 2023, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6 p.m. at Mount St. Joseph Chapel, 64 Presentation Way, New Windsor, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on March 20, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Mount St. Joseph. Burial will follow in Mount St. Joseph Cemetery, New Windsor, NY.
