Sister Jeanne Deas, OP, of the Dominican Sisters, Sparkill, New York, entered eternal life on February 10, 2024, in Siena Hall, Dominican Convent. She was 84 years old.

Born in the Bronx, on March  23, 1939, Jeanne was the daughter of Arthur and Anne Houlihan Deas. She entered the Dominican Congregation of Our Lady of the Rosary in Sparkill on September 8, 1957, and received the name Sister Arthur Anne. She professed first vows in 1959 and final vows in 1964.

Sister Jeanne earned a B.S. in education from St. Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill, 1962; an M.S. in education from St. John University, New York, 1971; and certification in administration from Manhattan College, The Bronx, 1978.

Sister Jeanne’s ministries included St. Agnes Home and School, Sparkill (1959-1960); St. John Chrysostom School, Bronx (1960-1962); St. Vito School, Mamaroneck (1962-1967); St. Ann School, Bronx (1967-1968); Holy Family School, Hicksville as teacher; and Holy Family as parish minister from 1992-2008. She participated in a Wellsprings Sabbatical, Glen Falls from 1991-1992. From 2008 until 2018, Sister Jeanne was a staff member in the Office of Financial Services, Dominican Convent, Sparkill.

Sister Jeanne is predeceased by her parents Arthur and Anne Houlihan Deas and her sister, Sister Joanne Deas, OP. She is survived by her loving cousins, Dominican Sisters, associates, and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, Sparkill, on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation is Friday, February 16, 2024 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Dominican Convent, 175 Route 340, Sparkill. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m.  Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Higgins Funeral Home.
