In her almost 70 years of service, Sister Laura taught at schools throughout the Archdiocese of New York and in New Jersey

Sister Laura Follmer (Mary Inez) of the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary entered eternal life on June 12, 2024, at St. Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry. She was 93 years old.

Sister Laura was born on July 4, 1930, in Brookhaven, and joined the Sisters of the Presentation on September 8, 1949. She professed first vows on April 17, 1952, and final vows on April 17, 1955. Sister graduated from Fordham University in 1961, earning a bachelor’s degree in education.

Her ministries included teaching at St. John’s in Goshen.; St Jude’s, Manhattan; 
St. Raphael, Long Island City; St. Andrew, New Jersey; St. John the Evangelist, Chappaqua; St. Joseph New Windsor; Mt St. Joseph Academy, Newburgh; and Our Lady of Consolation in New Jersey. She concluded her teaching ministry at St. Helen’s in Howard Beach.

Before retiring, she served the congregation as Mount St. Joseph coordinator and congregational archivist.

In addition to her family of the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Sister Laura is survived by her two nieces, Roseann Barton and Kathleen Perilli, 13 grandnieces and grandnephews as well as many great grandnieces and great grandnephews.

Sister Laura was predeceased by her parents Rose Connolly and James Follmer and her nine siblings.

Visitation will be on held Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at Mount St. Joseph Chapel, 64 Presentation Way, New Windsor, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Mount St. Joseph. Burial will be in Mount St. Joseph Cemetery, New Windsor, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sister Laura’s name to the Sisters of the Presentation, 84 Presentation Way, New Windsor, NY 12553.
