A native of Staten Island, Sister Mary Pauline taught history, music, and gave piano lessons at Maria Regina High School in Hartsdale from 1968-1995

Sister Mary Pauline Zimnoch, C.R., age 99, entered eternal life on December 18, 2023, at Riverside Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Sister entered the community of the Sisters of the Resurrection on September 8, 1937. Her years of religious formation were at the Provincial Home of the Sisters of the Resurrection in Chicago, Illinois, and Castleton. Sister Mary Pauline professed her Final Vows on August 15, 1947, and celebrated her 80th Jubilee in June 2022. Sister Mary Pauline loved her religious vocation and faithfully devoted her life to God as a Sister of the Resurrection for 86 years.

Born in Staten Island, Sister Mary Pauline was the daughter of the late Henry and Helen Zimnoch. She is also predeceased by her brother, Francis John.

Sister received her B.S. degree at the College of St. Rose and her M.S. in Music from Nazareth College of Rochester. Sister also did postgraduate work in piano from 1967-1968 at Nazareth College and was a talented musician.

Sister Mary Pauline’s ministry to God and the Church for many years beginning in 1944 was in the field of education. Sister was an elementary school teacher at St. Casimir in Albany, St. Mary’s in Schenectady, and was a teacher and organist at the parish and school in Newburgh. From 1968-1995 Sister taught history, music, and gave piano lessons at Maria Regina High School in Hartsdale. Sister also served at Maria Regina again from 2001 to 2010 until her retirement.

Friends are respectfully invited to call at the Chapel of the Sisters of the Resurrection on Wednesday, December 20 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 21 at 2:30 p.m. at the Sisters of the Resurrection Provincialate, 35 Boltwood Avenue, Castleton-on-Hudson, NY 12033.

Those desiring may send a remembrance in Sister M. Pauline’s name to the Sisters of the Resurrection Memorial Fund, 35 Boltwood Avenue, Castleton, NY 12033.
