Sister Patricia served the Sisters of Charity for 68 years

Sister Patricia Ann Morgan served the Sisters of Charity for 68 years.
Sister Patricia Ann Morgan (formerly Sister Marie Ursula) entered eternal life on August 13, 2023, at her residence in the Kittay Apartments in the 68th year of commitment as a Sister of Charity of New York.
 

Sister Patricia was born January 17, 1935, in Manhattan. She was one of three children, two daughters and one son of Everett and Julia Harley Morgan. Patricia attended Our Lady of Good Counsel Elementary School and Cathedral High School, both in Manhattan. 

After graduation, she worked for a few years and attended Hunter College before entering the Sisters of Charity of New York on September 8, 1955. Sister Patricia earned a B.A. in English from College of Mount Saint Vincent and a M.S.L.S. in Library Science from Villanova University in Pennsylvania. New York State awarded her permanent certification as a library media specialist.

Sister Patricia served in active ministry for 41 years as a teacher and librarian. She taught elementary grades at Saint Francis Xavier, Manhattan, and Saint Monica, Jamaica. She offered her high school library services at Saint Joseph by-the-Sea, Staten Island; Saint Catharine Academy, Bronx; Saint Gabriel High School, New Rochelle; and Sacred Heart High School, Yonkers. 

Her college librarian years were at Elizabeth Seton College, Yonkers, and College of Mount Saint Vincent. During the years that Sister Patricia provided care for a parent, she volunteered in a local public library, and later in the Elizabeth Seton Library of College of Mount Saint Vincent. 

In 2015, she joined the retirement community at Mount Saint Vincent Convent and in 2021 moved with the retired sisters at the Kittay Senior Apartments in the Bronx.

Visiting hours will be Friday, August 18, from 8:30-9:45am, at Flynn Memorial Home, 1652 Central Park Avenue, Yonkers, with a prayer service at 9am. The Prayer Service livestream will begin at 8:30am. Funeral Liturgy will also be August 18, at 10:45am, at Sr. Margaret of Cortona Church, 6000 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx. The funeral liturgy will livestream here.

The Vatican announced the date for the Mass on May 9 along with events on his schedule for the rest of the month.
