Sister Theodore Bollati, ASCJ, entered eternal life peacefully on November 22, 2023, at Sacred Heart Manor, Hamden, Connecticut. She was 99 years old and professed as an Apostle of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for 79 years. Sister Theodore, daughter of the late Camillo and Mary (Garofalo) Bollati, was born on January 7, 1924 in Brooklyn. She was the beloved sister of the late Ignatius Bollati and Mary Ann (Bollati) Madama and her husband, Salvador Madama.

Sister Teddy, as she was affectionately known to many, entered the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on July 2, 1941, in New Haven, Connecticut. She professed First Vows on August 26, 1944, and Perpetual Vows on August 22, 1950, also in New Haven.

Sister Theodore earned a bachelor of education degree from Fordham University. She began her ministry in Catholic education as a teacher in St. Louis, Missouri, and would go on to teach in Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, and Florida. She lovingly served in the Archdiocese of New York at Sacred Heart Private School in the Bronx; Our Lady of Pompeii in Greenwich Village; and St. Joseph School in Lower Manhattan.

In 1976, just three years after earning a master’s degree in library science from Duquesne University, she returned to St. Louis to serve as librarian at Cor Jesu Academy, where she faithfully ministered for 32 years.

The wake for Sister Theodore took place on November 24 at Sacred Heart Manor Chapel in Hamden, Connecticut and a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on November 25 at Sacred Heart Manor Chapel, followed by burial at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven, Connecticut.
