On March 7, 140 consecrated religious from 40 congregations gathered in Sparkill for a day of prayer, reflection, and fellowship at the Third Annual Conference Day for Consecrated Religious.

Hosted at the Motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters of Our Lady of the Rosary, the gathering brought together about 140 consecrated religious from roughly 40 congregations serving throughout the archdiocese.

The day focused on the theme “Jesus Christ, Yesterday, Today and Forever.” Participants spent the day in worship, contemplation, and community.

The conference opened with welcome remarks from Sister Joan Curtin, CND, Vicar for Religious. Attendees also received a video message from Archbishop Ronald Hicks thanking religious communities for their years of service in parishes, Catholic education, and ministries across the archdiocese.

Bishop Edmund Whalen, Vicar for Clergy, and Monsignor Joseph LaMorte, Vicar General, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the great gift that religious orders are to the archdiocese and the many ways they serve.

Throughout the day, presenters reflected on key moments in the life of the Church. Father John Cush spoke about the Council of Nicaea and its enduring teaching on the Trinity and the identity of Jesus Christ.

Music for the conference was provided by the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal.

For the sisters and brothers gathered in Sparkill, the day offered an opportunity for spiritual renewal and fraternal solidarity while renewing their shared mission of service to the Church.
