“With thanks to the Women’s Society of Presentation-Sacred Heart Parish, just in time for the penitential season of Lent, which begins on March 5, we are pleased to announce that a Ladies’ Morning of Recollection will be held on Saturday, March 8 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Sacred Heart Church, 1055 Broadway at Esopus, New York,” announced Father Arthur F. Rojas, pastor.
The retreat master will be Father Marc K. Oliver, who is known on both sides of the Hudson River for his Bible encounter sessions and other events of recollection. Open to all women of good will, whether Catholic or not, the event will begin with Mass at 9 a.m., a conference by Father Oliver on Lent aimed at women, fellowship, and adoration and benediction with the Blessed Sacrament.
“It should be noted that the regular daily Mass at 8 a.m. at Presentation Church will not be offered on March 8, since Fr. Oliver will begin the Ladies’ Morning of Recollection with Holy Mass at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church,” alerted Father Rojas. “That Mass is open to worshippers of both sexes, even as the rest of the event is reserved for women.”
Girls old enough to understand may attend with their mothers or another female responsible adult. Although the event is free of charge, donations would be most welcome. So that there may be adequate refreshments for attendees, please call Mrs. Carlotta Riker at (336) 554-6214 beforehand to confirm attendance. Moreover, the Ladies’ Morning of Recollection on March 8 will be followed by a Lenten Evening of Recollection for men and women at Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday, March 12 6:30 p.m., and a Men’s Evening of Recollection at Presentation Church, 209 Hoyt Street, on Wednesday, March 19 (St. Joseph’s Day) starting at 6:30 p.m. Announcements will be forthcoming on these subsequent events. These events will also be free of charge, although donations would be most welcome.
