As the summer winds down, the Sheen Center for Thought & Culture is gearing up for an exciting fall season filled with must-see events. From comedy to thoughtful discussions, the upcoming lineup promises to delight and entertain audiences of all kinds.

Currently playing is “Medea: Re-Versed,” an “ice-cold, high-octane adaptation of Euripides’ play.” Written in battle rap verse, this brand-new hip-hop version of “Medea” sheds contemporary light on the classic tragedy. This production continues through October 13.

On September 18, the Sheen Center welcomes Delia Ephron, the acclaimed writer behind beloved films like “You’ve Got Mail,” to discuss her new book and upcoming Broadway show “Left on Tenth.” Ephron will be in conversation with “Glimpses” author and host Matt Williams, offering a rare glimpse into her storied career and the personal inspirations behind her latest work. An encore event takes place on October 30.

September 20 sees an exclusive U.S. performance of “Nameshida Onikenbai – Demon Sword Dance.” This 1000-year-old folk tradition features Oni (Demon) masked dancers acrobatically striding and leaping with swords and fans. The ensemble will showcase its full repertoire, including the exclusive “Sanninkago” performance. This exclusive occasion marks Nameshida Onikenbai’s first and only appearance in the U.S.

Sports fans will also have plenty to look forward to this fall, as the Players Choir returns to the Sheen stage on October 3. This gathering of NFL stars will showcase their vocal talents, proving there’s more to these athletes than meets the eye.

Later in the month, on October 22, the Sheen Center will host a thought-provoking event featuring “The Rev and The Rabbi Live,” with special guest Cardinal Timothy Dolan. This lively discussion, led by prominent members of the New York Commission of Religious Leaders, will tackle current affairs affecting the city and the world at large.

Rounding out the jam-packed season, the Sheen Center welcomes comedic sensation Lisa Marie Riley in “One Funny Lisa Marie” on November 9. Known for her viral social media content, Riley will take the stage to share her hilarious takes on motherhood, life, and love.
