
St. Patrick's Cathedral Announces 2024 Holy Week Schedule

The 10:15 a.m. Easter Sunday Mass is open to ticketed attendees only

St. Patrick’s Cathedral, America’s Parish Church, has published its schedule for Holy Week. Visit the cathedral’s website for the full list of scheduled Masses, livestreams, confessions, and additional scheduled events. Mass celebrants are subject to change without notice.
Palm Sunday, Sunday, March 24: Also known as Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord, this is the first day of Holy Week. Palm fronds will be distributed to Mass attendees. Cardinal Timothy Dolan is the celebrant of the 10:15 a.m. Mass.
Chrism Mass, Tuesday, March 26, 4 p.m.: The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops describes this as “The Chrism Mass, which [the Bishop] concelebrates with Priests from various regions of the diocese and during which he consecrates the sacred Chrism and blesses the other oils, is among the principal manifestations of the fullness of the Bishop’s Priesthood and is considered to be a sign of the close bond of the Priests with him.” Bishop Gerardo Colacicco is the preacher, and Cardinal Timothy Dolan is the celebrant.
Holy Thursday/Maundy Thursday, Mass of the Lord’s Supper, March 28, 5:30 p.m.: This Mass, commemorating Jesus’s Last Supper, features the ritual washing of feet, recalling when Jesus washed the feet of his disciples in an act of humility and service. Father Michael Caruso, SJ, is the preacher, and Cardinal Timothy Dolan is the celebrant.
Good Friday, March 29: Meditations on the Seven Last Words, 12 p.m., and the Passion of the Lord, 3:30 p.m. The “Seven Last Words” of Christ, which, although they are traditionally called “words,” are seven statements Jesus made from the cross. The service will include talks about the words, songs, and scripture readings. Monsignor Jim Vlaun is the preacher. For the Passion of the Lord, Cardinal Timothy Dolan is the celebrant.
Holy Saturday Easter Vigil, March 30, 8 p.m.: The celebration of Easter begins at the evening vigil on Saturday evening. Cardinal Timothy Dolan is the celebrant.
Easter Sunday, March 31: St. Patrick’s Cathedral will offer its normal schedule of Masses. Please note that the 10:15 a.m. Mass on Easter Sunday is open only to registered parishioners of St. Patrick’s and those who received tickets via the 2024 Easter Mass ticket lottery, which closed on March 9. Cardinal Timothy Dolan is the celebrant of the 10:15 a.m. Mass.
