The Chrism Mass will begin at 4:00 p.m. today and will be celebrated by His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal Dolan.

Later today, more than 1000 faithful will gather at St. Patrick’s Cathedral for the annual Chrism Mass. This 4:00 p.m. service will be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend in person. The livestream can be accessed on the homepage of The Good Newsroom (www.theGoodNewsroom.org).

At the Mass, Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York, will bless the oil of the Sick and the oil of Catechumens, and consecrate the oil of Chrism, that will be used in parishes throughout the upcoming year. The Mass also celebrates Jesus founding the priesthood, and allows the priests of the archdiocese to renew their commitment to their clerical service. Laity are welcome to attend the Mass as well. Cardinal Dolan will be the principal celebrant of the Mass, and Bishop Gerardo Colacicco, an auxiliary bishop of the archdiocese, will be the homilist.

The Mass booklet for the Chrism Mass can be found at the link above.

Although no major curial appointments or announcements have been made, one person who had a chance to know then-Cardinal Robert F. Prevost during the Synod on Synodality said the new pope takes his time and listens before speaking or taking concrete action.
