WHITE PLAINS — Archbishop Stepinac High School proudly announces the hiring of Blake Balcaen as head coach of the Varsity Lacrosse Team, ushering in a new era of energy, excellence, and leadership for the Crusader program.

A native of Rochester, Balcaen was a standout collegiate athlete at Pace University, where he served as a two-time team captain and later took on the role of offensive coordinator while earning his MBA in corporate finance. Known for his strategic acumen and relentless work ethic, Balcaen has already made a lasting impact on the Westchester lacrosse community.

In just three years, he launched True Lacrosse Westchester, growing the program from the ground up into a 500-player powerhouse. Through this platform, he has helped over 45 athletes earn spots on collegiate lacrosse teams across the country. Balcaen also co-directs 845 Box Lacrosse, providing year-round player development and building a strong local feeder system.

His spring coaching resume includes:

  • Head JV Coach, Horace Greeley High School (2023)

  • Assistant Varsity Coach, Bronxville High School (2024)

  • Head Varsity Coach, Putnam Valley High School (2025)

“Coach Balcaen’s passion for the game, his commitment to athlete development, and his growing reputation across the region make him the perfect fit for Stepinac,” said Athletic Director Michael O’Donnell. “We’re excited to see him elevate our lacrosse program to new heights.”

Balcaen is ready to hit the ground running and lead the Crusaders with integrity, vision, and a drive to compete at the highest level.
