On Saturday, May 17, The Most Reverend Joseph Espaillat, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of New York, hosted the Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal in the Bronx at St. Margaret of Cortona-St. Gabriel School.
Bishop Espaillat was filling in for His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of New York, who is in Rome for the official ordination ceremony of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV.
Cardinal Dolan sent a surprise video message thanking the parishioners for their contributions to the Stewardship Appeal, which funds important works like the retirement homes in Riverdale for priests of the archdiocese and local Catholic schools and parishes.
The event was preceded by Mass, celebrated by Bishop Espaillat.
Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio lamented the great harm the bill will cause to many of the most vulnerable in society, and the steeper cuts it will make to Medicaid.
