The Good NewsroomTM, the award-winning, digital newsroom of the Archdiocese of New York, has achieved considerable engagement with audiences of the Archdiocese. It recently reached a milestone with 10,000 downloads of its app through the Apple App Store and Google Play.

The newsroom launched in November 2022 with the goal of strengthening the community of Catholics in the New York area, and the app was launched just a few months later. The newsroom has continued to evolve, having added a weekly e-newsletter with ‘best of the week’ stories that is emailed out each Friday at noon to over 3,000 subscribers.

Earlier this year the newsroom was recognized by the Catholic Media Association with second place in the category of Best Multimedia Package Series for “Our Lady of Guadalupe, St. Juan Diego Image Enthronement and Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.” The series included videos and articles in English and Spanish, as well as social media content. The stories depicted this significant event that took place at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, with 2,000 people in attendance, just two weeks after the launch of the newsroom.
