Introducing The Good Newsroom

Welcome to The Good NewsroomTM, the new digital platform for news and information about what’s happening in the Archdiocese of New York. Let’s take a look around at everything The Good Newsroom has to offer readers, viewers, and followers from the archdiocese and beyond.
The Archdiocese of New York is an immense microcosm. It includes Saugerties, Staten Island, and Sullivan County, and that’s not even all the places that start with S. Our communities represent exceptional diversity, all united by the Catholic faith. Our new newsroom is a daunting but exhilarating attempt to cover it in a meaningful, relevant way.
“Good” is right there in our name, and our task includes spreading the Good News, the Gospel of Jesus. There will be plenty of that. We will offer resources to keep our faith at the center of our lives and work. We serve the Catholic community through our reporting, in interviews with clergy and laypeople alike, to bring a wider perspective to the experience at the parish level.
Our coverage will also include secular news, questions of law, politics, and social issues that affect the daily lives of concern to Catholics in the archdiocese, in order to do what any proper news outlet does: to keep its audiences apprised of events so that they, in turn, can make informed decisions for themselves, their families, and the people around them.
Ultimately, The Good Newsroom seeks to reach its readers, viewers, and followers in the ways that people consume news and content today: in words and photographs; through video; and via popular social media channels. And we do it all on a daily basis, including Catholic and public holidays. On our new website, www.thegoodnewsroom.org, each of our content categories can be found in the menu at the top right corner of the page. On the homepage our newest content will often be published at the top of the page. You can also find our featured videos at the top of the page.
Our social media channels – Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter – will also be updated daily, with a mix of social channel exclusive material and links to stories appearing on our website. Follow The Good Newsroom on these social channels to start receiving all of our updates.
We are here to serve you, and we’d love to hear from you with your comments and suggestions. You can always reach us using the Contact Form on our website or email us directly, at thegoodnewsroom@archny.org.
Please help us spread the good news about the launch of The Good Newsroom by sharing our stories and our social media links. Thank you for visiting, and please keep us in your prayers.
