Sister Mary Kevin (Caroline Frances Clutterbuck) entered eternal life on April 10, 2025, after an extended illness, at the hour of Mercy. She was born in New York City to Edward Clutterbuck and Mary Rose (Lonergan) Clutterbuck on November 17, 1927. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Sister Mary Kevin entered the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne on February 2, 1952. She made her first profession of vows on September 14, 1953. She was professed for almost 72 years.
She served at five of the seven homes that the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne operated. She served as superior at Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne, New York, from 1977-1983 and superior at St. Rose’s Home in New York City from 1992-1998. She also served on the general council from 1981-1985 and again from 1995-2001. She returned to Rosary Hill in November 2004 and continued to oversee patients for several more years. She loved being with the patients and helped to feed them, visit them, and entertain them with her wonderful wit and sense of humor. When she could no longer do that, she joined the novitiate during their prayers each day.
A wake will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel at Rosary Hill Home from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 10:15 a.m. in the Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary at Rosary Hill followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.
